Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is on Manchester United's list of potential goalkeeper signings.
The Argentina stopper, 29, has been one of the Premier League's most consistent performers between the posts since joining Aston Villa from Arsenal September 2020.
And United, having had him closely watched several times, now consider him a highly suitable candidate to be a number one at Old Trafford, says the Daily Star.
David de Gea currently occupies that position after winning his own battle with England international Dean Henderson - courtesy of a return to his world-class level of a few years ago.
The Spaniard, 31, is under contract until June 2023 and only if he uprooted before then. would United actually make a £50million swoop for Martinez.
But fed-up Henderson, 24, is desperate to quit the club to secure regular first-team action and force his back into the England reckoning before the World Cup finals next year
In addition to Martinez, who has two-and-a-half years left on his Villa deal, United are hot on Leeds star Illan Meslier.
