Xavi, reports Marca, has been left frustrated by the way De Jong has been performing since his appointment, believing he should be giving more as a senior player.
The coach said, "It was a question of football, being with the ball in the opposite field, having patience, people with the package to control the game.
"We don't have those kinds of footballers."
It's suggested Xavi was such a player, when playing alongside Andres Iniesta and Leo Messi, and believes only captain Sergi Busquets is capable of what is needed.
