If you currently own a start-up or plan to start a small business in 2022, you should consider remote talent to be part of your team.

Here are 4 reasons why remote talents are often the perfect match for start-ups:

Cost Effective

Many start-ups or small businesses don’t have a huge budget to hire qualified and experienced talent.

By hiring remote talents, you’re most likely going to end up with a part-time or freelance employee with the necessary skillset and experience but at a much lower cost.

For example, hiring a freelance remote social media manager who can design, write captions and post for your business is way more cost-efficient than hiring a whole team of 2-3 people.

Of course, this does not mean you can pay less for more – freelancers have their hourly rate or packages that are appropriately designed by them in exchange for their work.

You don’t want to underpay someone but you do want to be mindful of your budget.

Talents Aren’t Bounded By Location

Found a perfect candidate that’s based in a different city? Not a problem with remote work!

Talents aren’t limited by their location when it comes to remote work – which means your business has more options in choosing the best suitable talent.

Also as mentioned in the previous point, finding talent in different locations can be cost-effective. If you find a talent based in the country rather than the city, their fees might be more affordable if you’re on a tight budget.

Increased Productivity

Some might think that working remotely is not great for work productivity.

This is because employees won’t be able to work face-to-face and have discussions in real or get help immediately.

This is not always true. In the day and age where everything is one click away, employees do not always need employees on their stand by for help. Inquiries can be answered via Google and meeting platforms such as Google Meet and Zoom are always there for discussions.

Plus, being in one’s home office or room might bring benefits to the employee for more efficiency.

Remote talents can take a short nap when they’re drained or not well instead of calling it a sick day.

They can also work in their comfy clothes and there’s no external pressure to look their best and show up to the office. everyday

Reduced Staff Turnover

As mentioned in the previous point, remote talents have various stay at-home benefits. This especially applies to parents and parent’s-to-be.

Long gone are the times of parents quitting their jobs to become stay at home moms or dads to take care of their children.

Reduced staff turnover rates are something small businesses or start-ups should highly prioritize.

This is because as a new or small business, you don’t have the resources such as time and energy to keep training new employees. After all, the previous ones left.

You want to save cost by not just hiring the most affordable talent, but hiring the talent that would most likely not quit and remote talents don’t have as much reason to leave a job unless they do not enjoy it.

External factors for these remote talents are manageable because they have control over their environment.

So with this, I highly encourage any start-ups or small businesses to keep their minds open when hiring talent. Remote talents might be just the fit for them for multiple reasons!
