Barcelona chief Mateu Alemany has made Edinson Cavani their priority target for the January market.

Alemany is seeking a striker signing next month and amongst several options, Sport says he has made Manchester United veteran Cavani his priority.

The 34 year-old is in advanced negotiations with Barca, though everything will hinge on his fitness.

Alemany wants an assurance over Cavani's recovery from an achilles injury before closing a deal.

The Uruguay international hasn't been seen since November 2 when he broke down in the Champions League against Atalanta.
