Tottenham Hotspur have bounced back from an embarrassing defeat to NK Mura by claiming a 2-0 win over Brentford on Thursday.

Spurs were made to wait for redemption after last weekend's clash with Burnley was postponed due to inclement weather.

Antonio Conte's men didn't disappoint the home crowd as an own goal from Sergi Canos broke the deadlock after 12 minutes.

The north London outfit pushed for more goals and their hunger and tenacity to press Brentford almost bore rewards.

Heung-min Son and Harry Kane both came close to doubling the advantage before half-time.

With 25 minutes remaining, Son eventually got the goal he was looking for when he latched onto Sergio Reguilon's cross to tap home from six yards.

Thomas Frank would have been furious with his players after they managed just one shot on target.

Tottenham now climb to sixth, two points behind West Ham in fourth, while Brentford slip to 12th.

Speaking after the game, Conte was pleased to see his team recover from last week's loss in Slovenia.

Conte told BBC: "It was a really bad defeat for everyone [last week] and I think you can learn a lot in a loss than a win. Today was a good win.

"Today we showed a great desire to win and fight. For sure we can improve and we have a lot of space for improvement in possession.

"We have to continue to improve in many aspects."
