Real Madrid have made a move for departing Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards.
The Independent says Edwards, who has been credited with helping to overhaul the recruitment system in place at Anfield, is set to leave the Premier League giants next summer.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has been highly impressed with Edwards' work in the transfer market, having signed the likes of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.
The report adds that whilst pursuing a number of Reds stars, including Salah, they changed their top target to Edwards himself.
Perez accept that Madrid will have to alter their transfer strategy in the light of the failed European Super League project, with Spanish clubs facing particular financial hardship since the Covid pandemic.
