Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon is proud of his deal for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Before leaving the presidency, Calderon has always insisted he clinched a deal with Manchester United for Ronaldo.
He declared: "Based on the results obtained, both personally and collectively, having brought Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid was a winning bet and an undoubted success.
"But I had no merit, I did what any president would have done in my place. It was a success. A unique opportunity that we could not miss and, although it was not easy to convince Manchester, the player's decision made things much easier.
"United was excessive, but hey, it turned out to be the cheapest hit in our history.
"I also have excellent memories of Fabio Cannavaro and Ruud Van Nistelrooy, with whom I continue to maintain a relationship. Two examples as players and as people, who have helped us a lot, on the pitch and in the locker room, to win two consecutive championships after three years without winning any title."
