Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has explained the source of his current blackeye.

The left-back missed the Reds' most recent game against Leicester City in the Carabao Cup as part of his three-match suspension following his red card against Spurs last week.

Robertson is expected to return to the first team fold in time for the first leg of Liverpool's semi-final against Arsenal next month.

However, it looked as if the Scotland international's tough luck had continued after he was spotted with a black eye during the team's training session on Friday.

But Robertson took to social media to resolve any questions about the injury.

The 27-year-old shared a screenshot of him being kicked in the face by Tottenham defender Emerson Royal.

The caption on his Instagram story read: “Anyone asking about the blackeye! This might help".
