KOTA KINABALU: A couple was charged tentatively with killing a 28-year-old woman who was their maid, on Wednesday.
However, no plea was taken from Mohammad AmbreeYunos @ Unos, 40, and Etiqah Siti Noorashikeen Mohd Sulong, 33, when the charge was read to them before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun.
The husband is a chef while the wife is an engineer of Petronas. The wife was also a former MasterChef Malaysia 2012 finalist.
The couple allegedly murdered one Nur Afiyah Daeng Damin, between Dec 10 and 13 this year, in an apartment in Lido, Penampang.
They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the death penalty, upon conviction.
The couple who was on police bond, was present in court accompanied by their family members as well as their three small children.
Pending the case to be transferred to the high Court, the couple was ordered remanded further.
