TAWAU: The Tawau Parliamentary People’s Service Centre is set for a countdown to the New Year 2022.

The Centre’s Vice-Chief Liaison Officer Ariffin @ Putra Hj Andon said Tawau MP Datuk Christina Liew will be with the people for the event dubbed “2022 Countdown Cycling Fun Ride”.

According to him, the programme will commence from 7am on December 31.

The countdown begins at 11.59pm and will culminate in a fireworks display at the stroke of midnight to mark the occasion outside the premises of the People’s Service Centre.

“We are organising this countdown in strict compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) laid down by the authorities. The fun ride is open to men, women and youth from all communities.

“The 12-km cycling route starts from the Tawau Parliamentary People’s Service Centre at Taman Mega Jaya, and ends at the same venue after a U-turn from the Jalan Kuhara roundabout,” Ariffin said.

All the prizes for the lucky draw for participants are sponsored by Liew.

These include a folding bicycle, 15 hampers, and bike accessories.

There will also be karaoke as part of the entertainment programme, Ariffin added.
