Tuaran: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Government, which is committed to the human capital development agenda and wellbeing of the people, will continue to provide special education assistance for needy students next year.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor said the special assistance introduced by the GRS Government was aimed at ensuring that every young Sabahan had access and not denied the right to education.

He said as mentioned in the Sabah 2022 Budget, the school social assistance programme which provides free uniforms, shoes and stationery would be continued next year involving 289,204 students with an allocation of RM13.9 million.

“The GRS State Government will also continue with the two special education assistance introduced last year, namely the Cash Assistance for IPT Registration (BUDI) and the Special Cash Assistance for Examination (BAKTI) which involve allocations of RM10 million and RM7.5 million, respectively.

“Next year, the State Government will also introduce and implement a new initiative, namely the State Education Savings Assistance (BISTARI) with an allocation of RM5 million.

"Through BISTARI, every Sabahan born from 2022 will be offered a National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) account through the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) where the State Government will contribute RM100 to each recipient as assistance," he said.
