
KUALA LUMPUR – Several households at low-cost housing units in the Sri Johor public flats, Cheras, have been destroyed in a fire this evening.
According to reports, the blaze had struck units at Block 31 of the flat complex.

Bernama reported a Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department spokesman as saying that the fire broke out at approximately 9.20pm.
He said the fire is believed to have started from the middle of the block, before it spread to the entire floor.
“So far, firefighters are still investigating whether it involves any fatalities. The cause of the fire is believed to be from a gas leak,” he told reporters at the scene.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob visited the site and met with residents who lost their homes, assuring temporary shelter and RM1,000 aid for every household.
