Scotland coach Steve Clarke has warned Newcastle winger Ryan Fraser about his squad status.
The Magpies star missed the last international break in November with a calf problem, although did return to training with United before coming on as a sub against Brentford in Eddie Howe's first game in charge.
That didn't go down too well north of the border, and Clarke has issued a warning to Fraser ahead of March's next international fixtures.
"I haven't spoken to Ryan," he told the Daily Record. "Obviously he wasn't involved through his own choice in the November games.
“I don't think we missed him. The team was good in both games. So Ryan could have his work cut out to be back in the squad.
“That's just the nature of the competition for places. It's not a squad that you want to give up your place in lightly."
