KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 27 — The Federal Territories Ministry and its agencies will expand their flood relief operations to more areas outside the Federal Territories, said its minister Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim.

He said the ministry’s flood relief missions so far had gone to Pahang beginning December 25, focusing on Bentong, Mentakab and Temerloh, which have been badly hit by floods.

“Today, I joined staff and volunteers in clearing and cleaning up Taman Tasik Bandar Temerloh for six hours, including the parking area, the square and several major routes which were full of mud,” he said in a statement.

He said among the machinery and equipment deployed were lorries, four-wheel drives, motorised boats and generator sets, with the focus on cleaning up public facilities such as mosques.

Shahidan said the relief mission and cleaning-up operations in Selangor were continuing in Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam and Hulu Langat.

The ministry would continue cooperating with other government agencies to ensure that the people’s welfare was taken care of, he added. — Bernama
