BELURAN: The upgrading of Beluran Tamu Market Project is expected to be completed in May.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry (Mafi) Datuk Ronald Kiandee said the project by Marketing Board Federal Agriculture (Fama) collaboration involves an allocation of RM746,000 under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).
“The ongoing efforts by Fama to transform the stalls in the market will benefit 170 participants.
“We hope that it can provide comfort to the visitors and help entrepreneurs to market their agriculture produce.
“Once the project is completed, it will be handed over to the Beluran District Council,” he said after visiting the project.
According to Kiandee, three general markets in Sabah have been upgraded and they are Sook, Keningau and Kudat while Kunak Tamu is still in the process of construction which is expected to be completed in March.
He also added that Fama will be upgrading Tuaran Market next year and that it has been agreed by the Tuaran District Council.
Earlier, he presented Mafi’s contribution to some 500 residents of three islands namely Pulau Kaniogan, Pulau Bukit Besi and Pulau Tetabuan who were affected by Covid-19.
