Kota Kinabalu: The State Government will ensure the low-income group will be able to own homes, especially through the People’s Housing Programme (PPR).
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Yakub Khan, who is also Karambunai Assemblyman, said this is part of the government’s efforts to restructure squatters.
“In 2018, PPR was abolished by the previous government, but then it had been revived as it is one of the ways to eradicate squatter problem in the State,” he said during a house key handover ceremony to a recipient in Telipok, here, Monday.
“We will ensure there will be more PPR recipients, especially in Karambunai area.”
Aside from that, the government will ensure PPR recipients will be provided with basic amenities including power and water supply.
“We will work closely with the City Hall to get information so that more residents in Karambunai constituency will have their own homes,” he said.
