Alaves and coach Javi Calleja are in talks over a release from his contract.
Calleja has a deal with Alaves to 2023, but is in negotiations to leave before January 1, reports Efe.
He arrived last April to replace Abelardo Fernández and managed to lift the team and keep them in the Primera last season.
That success led him to renew his contract with the Glorioso for two more seasons, until 2023.
But now Calleja has run out of credit after closing the year in the relegation positions with 15 points from 18 games.
