Liverpool U23 coach Barry Lewtas says Layton Stewart is on track regarding his recovery from an ACL injury.
The 19-year-old has been sidelined since March, when he was stretchered off the field during a Premier League 2 encounter with West Ham United.
Stewart is working hard with the medical staff in Kirkby on his recovery, though no timescale has been placed on his return to action.
"Layton is progressing well," Lewtas told Liverpoolfc.com. "In terms of the schedule, he is where we thought he would be, so he is progressing extremely well.
"What is important is we make sure that everything is right before he does return.
"Layton is making good progress from an unfortunate injury, but he is around the lads every day at the training centre and he still hasn't lost any of that personality and we all know he's there, which is great.
"He is itching to get back as soon as possible and, of course, he will add massively to the group. But the most important thing is that we don't rush him and we do things properly because it's not about the team, it's about the player."
