
KUNAK: A 20-year-old motorcyclist and his 16-year-old pillion rider suffered serious injuries in a accident with a Perodua Bezza car, at Km 2 Jalan Kunak-Semporna, Sunday afternoon.
Kunak District Police Chief, Superintendent Sabarudin Rahmat said the motorcyclist, working as a lab assistant in a factory, here, suffered broken hip bone, while the pillion rider, a student, suffered bleeding in the head.
“The driver of the Bezza, a 27-year-old female teacher escaped unhurt,” he said.
The motorcycle was on its way from Pantai Sarina to Kg Ulu Madai, while the Bezza was from Pekan Kunak was heading to Kg Sg Langgas when the accident occurred at 5.20pm.
“The Bezza was entering the junction on the right and was hit by the motorcycle.
“The accident caused the car to suffer damages on the left rear side while the motorcycle was damaged in the front.
“A paramedic team from the Kunak Hospital was at the scene and sent the victims to the hospital by ambulance,” said Sabarudin.
The case is being investigated under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
