Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has expressed his regret about comments regarding goalkeeper Alex McCarthy's professionalism.
The Austrian coach was not happy with McCarthy after the team's 1-1 draw with Brighton, putting the blame of Neal Maupay's last ditch equaliser on the shot stopper's doorstep.
McCarthy was hurt at the time, and that resulted in teammate James Ward-Prowse rushing back to provide cover, which led to Maupay being onside and eventually scoring.
Hasenhuttl said mid-week, per Sky Sports: "I was not perfect to do this [saying that McCarthy did not act in the most professional way during that passage of play] after the game.
"I didn't have all the information I should have after the game and that is always an issue.
"I hadn't spoken with everybody. I know more now about what happened on the pitch and I would do it differently.
"But now isn't the time to speak about it. We took a few good things from the last game."
