Atletico Madrid's players were proud of victory at Porto on Wednesday night.

The 3-1 win sees Atletico reach the Champions League knockout phase.

Atletico coach Diego Simeone later said: "I'm so happy with the leadership the players showed by overcoming all the absences we faced. Vrsaljko and Kondogbia put in enormous performances. Our opponents only needed to draw to go through and they competed very well but we put in some great performances and worked as a team."

Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak also said: "You have to keep your head up when you lose and, when things don't go your way, you have to keep playing as if your life depends on it. We can't be at our best throughout the season but you have to keep on going.

"There's no limit to what we can do and when we have to dig our heels in we do it. I wish we didn't have to suffer so much but this is football: it's not always easy."

Goalscorer Antoine Griezmann added: "This match and this group stage campaign sums up just what Atleti is all about. We are a true group and we need everyone to do their bit to get to where we want to. We never stop believing."
