Luke Shaw believes Phil Jones should be "proud of himself" after Monday's clash with Wolves.
Jones made his first start in two years after an injury to captain Harry Maguire.
The Englishman could not prevent United from going down 1-0 at Old Trafford, but Shaw was impressed with his performance.
"One thing I will say is Phil Jones should be proud of himself," Shaw said.
"He has been criticised for years, and has gone through a lot, but he is so professional and he has trained heard anmd he was phenomenal.
"He was exceptional, I am very happy for him and he deserves it."
