Manchester United are prepared to sell Phil Jones this month.
The Daily Star says United have slapped a £15million price-tag on Jones.
The Reds defender, 29, has made only one league appearance in two years - in the 1-0 defeat against Wolves this month - after falling out of favour with previous boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Yet, despite that lack of first-team action and the fact the ex-Blackburn man has less than 18 months left on his current contract, United are refusing to listen to offers under £15m.
Burnley are interested in the former England international but have no intention of matching United's demand - or the player's £100,000-a-week salary.
Newcastle could afford that package but St James Park boss Eddie Howe has more pressing transfer targets to aim for first in this window.
