Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s new daily Covid-19 cases dipped to 165 on Sunday after several days of an upward trend.

Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said two deaths reported in Keningau.

“Some districts show a significant decrease in cases such as Tuaran with a drop of 34, Kota Kinabalu (-23), Ranau (-15) and Penampang (-12).

“Only Tawau records a significant increase with a surge of 10 cases compared to Saturday. Other districts only register single-digit changes,” he said in a statement, Sunday

He said seven districts recorded two-digit cases, with Kota KInabalu topping the list with 33, followed by Penampang and Kota Belud with 19 cases each.

Another 14 districts, Masidi said, recorded single-digit cases and six districts recorded zero cases.

He said 16 districts were under red zone (more than 40 cases), three districts under orange zone (between 21 and 40 cases) and eight districts under yellow zone (between one and 20 cases).

Of the 165 new patients, Masidi said a total of 161 were in Categories 1 and 2, and one in Categories 3, 4 and 5, respectively. A case involving another patient is still under evaluation by Sabah Health Department.

Masidi also said Sabah also recorded 100 Covid-19 patients recovered (including those discharged from hospital/PKRC), making a cumulative total of 233,790 people.

Meanwhile, he said 670 patients are receiving treatment, namely 347 people in hospitals, 322 people in the public quarantine and low-risk treatment centres (PKRC) and one person in private facility.

He said 42 patients are in critical care, including 38 in ICU/repurposed critical care, as well as four in open ward (HDW/acute cubicle) and another 15 people need ventilated breathing aids.
