The Hands of the Children
I’ve never lived in a haunted house, but my mother did when she was a teen. Unusual things were going on in other houses on her street as well. A family resided just a few houses away from her. The daughter went to bed one night with a severe headache. She was dead the next day, the result of an aneurysm.
The family went away after her funeral to keep their minds off the sorrow, and the father requested my uncle—my mother’s brother—to check on their dogs. My parents (who were dating at the time) accompanied him since my mother had heard there was a grand piano and wanted to play it. My father was a student.
My uncle and father walked to the basement to inspect the animals after entering the house, while my mother went to the piano on the ground floor. She was engrossed in the game when she felt something brush against her ankles. She assumed a cat had wandered out of the cellar and past her. She didn’t stop playing. Then she felt it once more.
She looked under the piano but couldn’t find anything. When she began again, she felt hands tightly clasp her legs. She ran down to the basement door, dialled my uncle and father’s numbers, and waited. Back outside, my uncle noticed my mother was agitated and inquired as to what was happening.
He became white when she informed him what had happened. He explained that the deceased girl used to play a game with her father. She’d climb underneath the piano, grasp his ankles, and push his feet up and down on the pedals.

The Phantom Patient
The ambulance firm where I used to work had a ‘haunted’ ambulance called rig 12,” Reddit.com user Zerbo recalls. “A lot of EMTs told me about it, but I’m not a big believer in paranormal stuff.” That is until I had my own rig 12 experience.
At 3 a.m., my partner and I were working in a rural hamlet where it was pitch black and utterly silent. I was in the driver’s seat, and she was in the passenger seat, and we were both dozing. I awoke to a garbled voice, which I mistook for my spouse. I closed my eyes and told her I was trying to sleep. ‘Oh my God, am I dying?’ I heard a male voice say, followed by a few seconds of heavy breathing. My partner and I sat up straight and returned our gaze to the patient compartment, where the voice appeared to have originated.
For a few seconds, all was calm; then we heard the click of an oxygen-bottle regulator and a hiss as if it were leaking. We dashed out of the rig after I turned on the lights. We opened the back doors because we assumed a transient had climbed in while we were sleeping. There was no one there. I double-checked the oxygen bottles and found that neither had been opened. After that, we didn’t get much sleep.

The Impish Ghost
For years, my neighbour Diane and I had a fun poltergeist we dubbed Billy. When I got home, I’d discover milk in a cupboard, toilet paper in the refrigerator, and laundry detergent in the bathtub.” When Diane couldn’t find a gallon of milk, she called Billy to see if he was around. We finally spotted it on her back steps outdoors. Sugar, too… sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar My sugar bowl was always empty in the morning.
“Go see Diane!” I’d yell when I’d had enough, pointing to Diane’s house. I’d get a call from her in less than five minutes. “Thank you very much,” she’d say. He’d gone to her house and tried some pranks. This happened for the entire time we were there, which was two years. Even our husbands didn’t believe us. My mother suspected that we were being robbed while we were sleeping or out of the house. My sister was convinced that something was wrong, but she couldn’t pinpoint what it was. I’m still at a loss for words.
