
KUNAK: A house in a water village in Kg Pangkalan, here, collapsed on Thursday. No casualties were reported in the 11am incident.
Kunak District Officer Majaran Osman (pic), who is also the Chairman of the Disaster Operations Control Centre (PKOB), said fortunately there were no occupants in the house during the incident.
He said PKOB, together with the Social Welfare Department and Community Development Officer (PPM) Unit, had surveyed the location of the incident after receiving information from the public.
“No casualties were reported. PKOB and the Welfare Department have identified the victim’s family and will render necessary assistance,” he said when contacted Friday.
Majaran hoped the victims will be resilient in the face of the tragedy.
He said the incident is believed to be the impact of the high tide phenomenon few days ago which also affecting coastal settlements here.
Due to the unpredictable weather phenomenon at this time, he said the maritime community is reminded to remain vigilant and vigilant to avoid any unforeseen incidents.
He said neighbours of the victims also helped remove debris and items found after the incident.
