Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe appreciated the owners visiting the dressing room after their dismal FA Cup defeat to Cambridge.

After confirming Callum Wilson will be out injured for eight weeks, Howe said the club's owners are well aware of the trouble Newcastle will be in if they can't find a replacement this month.

When asked about the owners, Howe said: "They popped in. They were very supportive.

"I can't thank them enough for that.

"This has to be a united effort, and that showed we are in this together.

"I think it was really beneficial for the players to be able to see that and hear that because this journey we're going on currently and this fight we're in to stay in this division is a united effort from everybody at the club."
