
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded a slight drop in the number of new Covid-19 cases to 242 on Friday from 245 on Thursday.
Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said three deaths were record in Kota Kinabalu, Kota Belud and Sipitang.
He said nine districts recorded double-digit cases with four exceeding 20 cases and Tuaran topping the list with 35, followed by Kota Kinabalu (25), Papar (23) and Ranau (20).
Sixteen districts recorded single-digit cases and two districts did not record new cases.
“Thirteen districts recorded an increase and decrease in the number of cases. Ranau recorded the highest increase in cases of 10, while Kota Kinabalu the largest decrease of 18 cases, compared to Thursday.
“Of the 242 cases, 238 patients are in Categories 1 and 2. There is one case each in Category 3, Category 4 and Category 5. The Sabah Health Department (JKNS) is still evaluating one case,” Masidi said Friday. He added that no new clusters were reported on Friday.
A total of 176 patients have been discharged from hospital and Public Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centres (PKRCs), while 760 patients are receiving treatment, namely 418 in hospitals, 339 in the Public Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centres (PKRCs), two in Temporary Detention Centres (PTS) /Prison and one in a private facility.
He said 31 patients in need of critical care including 26 in ICU/repurposed critical care as well as five in open ward (HDW/acute cubicle) and another 14 people need ventilated breathing aids.
He said 21 patients who have not completed their vaccinations are in stage four and five.
