Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is handing his players the day off.

Guardiola has handed his Manchester City players a week off during the winter break after abandoning plans for a trip to Abu Dhabi.

City had discussed the potential for a warm-weather camp after Saturday's match at Southampton.

The Premier League leaders will have two weeks without a fixture, not playing again until an FA Cup clash with Fulham on February 5.

"We spoke with the club and it's not safe enough to go there all together right now because of the virus," Guardiola said.

"We decided that everyone can go with their families. They will have a few days off to rest a little bit. Most of them never have a week off because they go to the national teams. They can spend time with their families and friends."
