Newcastle have been encouraged in their pursuit of Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa.

The Evening Chronicle says Newcastle will be pushing at an open door if they continue to follow up initial interest in Barbosa.
The 25-year-old Brazilian international - nicknamed Gabigol - has been monitored long-term by the Magpies with head of recruitment Steve Nickson scouting the player during trips to South America.
Barbosa is available on loan and eager to have another crack at Europe following spells with Benfica and Inter Milan.
