KUALA LUMPUR – Covid-19 infections in Malaysia continue to decline with 2,641 new cases reported today compared to 2,888 yesterday, bringing the country’s total to 2,788,860.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 2,808 recoveries as of noon today, for a total of 2,717,422 recoveries so far.
“From the cases reported today, 57 cases, or 2.2%, were category three, four and five, while 2,584 cases (97.8%) were category one and two.
“There were 253 cases requiring intensive care treatment and 106 cases requiring respiratory support. Also, four new clusters were detected today,” he said in a statement regarding Covid-19 developments today.
The country’s infectivity rate (Rt) was 0.98 with Labuan having the highest value of 1.19, followed by Sabah (1.07), Kuala Lumpur (1.06), Melaka (1.03), Negri Sembilan (1.02) and Kedah (1.00).
Also, Dr Noor Hisham said that the Health Ministry detected only one Covid-19 case among flood evacuees as of 3pm, bringing the total to 470 cases.
He said the ministry also detected 23 cases of infectious disease involving flood evacuees, out of which 10 involved skin disease, nine acute gastroenteritis and four acute respiratory infection. – Bernama, January 10, 2022
