Harvey Elliott wasn't the only Liverpool player making his comeback in yesterday's friendly against Wrexham.
Elliott has today stepped up his return to first-team action by featuring in a behind-closed-doors under-23s match against Wrexham.
The Liverpool midfielder successfully completed 60 minutes of match action, which the club planned as the most appropriate arrangement ahead of the game.
The Liverpool Echo says in addition to the talented teenager earning some valuable playing time, the ECHO understands there were also opportunities handed to defender Rhys Williams and midfielder Leighton Clarkson against Wrexham.
Both players recently returned from loan spells at Swansea City and Blackburn Rovers respectively, which were both cut short due to a lack of regular outings.
Williams, who helped Jurgen Klopp's side secure Champions League football last season, had made only five Championship appearances with Russell Martin's side while Clarkson featured seven times for fellow second tier side Blackburn.
