Newcastle United are ready to make a bid for Burnley striker Chris Wood.

Manager Eddie Howe is desperate to add attacking firepower to his team, after losing Callum Wilson to a lengthy injury.

According to The Telegraph, the Magpies have approached Burnley to discuss terms for Wood.

However, Burnley may not be eager to weaken themselves and strengthen a relegation rival midway through the season.

However, Wood does want the move, as it would mean more money and the chance to play for a more prestigious club.
