Barcelona are keen to open new contract talks with Ronald Araujo.
Sport says Barcelona have booked an appointment with Araujo's agent in the coming days to negotiate a new contract for the Uruguayan to improve his salary and the number of years left on the deal.
Araujo is out of contract in June 2023 and his renewal, after the excellent performances he has been putting in, is a priority for the club.
Contact between Barcelona and Araujo's agent Edoardo Crnjar have been ongoing and they will meet soon. The player wants to stay but would also like recognition according to his value and what he's giving to Barcelona.
The club know they should reward him for his commitment and performance. He is only 22 and could go on to mark an era for Barcelona.
They are optimistic a deal will be reached.
