Failed negotiations over a clause was the cause for delays over Barcelona's presentation of Ferran Torres.

The former Manchester City attacker had agreed to join Barca last week, but the move wasn't confirmed for several days after terms had been agreed and his presentation only occured this week.

The reason, according to Que T'Hi Jugues, was that Barca had attempted to insert a clause in the deal which would've seen the transfer called off and Torres sent back to City if they were blocked from registering him.

In the end it was Barca which withdrew the request, convinced that LaLiga would agree to register the attacker as they battled to make room in their wage cap for him.

However for the moment, Torres remains unregistered with Barca needing to shift out several fringe players to free up space.
