PSV Eindhoven director of football John de Jong admits they face eventually losing Cody Gakpo.

The 22-year-old forward has been in contact with Liverpool and Manchester City.

De Jong is all too aware that he is likely to leave the club at some point, though referenced Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to reinforce that Gakpo still has plenty to learn before joining an elite club.

“Gakpo will of course not stay in Eindhoven forever. He will go to a top club in a top league in the future. Or will that happen next summer? That's hard to say," he said.

“If you look at Liverpool players like Mane and Salah, he still has a lot to learn. They are not only great footballers, but they also defend, Gakpo still has to improve on that point."
