Kota Kinabalu: A fresh batch of medicines will arrive in Sabah by the end of this month to cover the reported shortage of medication at government hospitals across the state.

Sabah health director Dr Rose Nani Mudin blamed the inadequate medical stocks at health facilities on a disruption in supply by the vendor.

She said they had mobilised medicines from other health facilities and districts to meet the demand so that patients could get their medication on time.

“We will ensure patients get the best treatment at all times,” Rose added.

Two days ago, former deputy chief minister Christina Liew issued a statement saying she had received complaints from patients that certain medicines were out of stock at some health facilities.

She said this included medication meant for patients with heart disease.

Patients had been told that the medication would be given only for two weeks instead of the usual one-month supply.
