Kota Kinabalu: The State Government has granted permission for three temples in Sabah to conduct Thaipusam prayers on Jan 18, however the kavadi ceremony and procession are not allowed.

Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the three temples granted permission are the Sri Sitti Vinayagar Temple in Sandakan, Tawau's Sri Thirumurugan Temple and Sri Subramaniar Temple in Lok Kawi.

“Permission is granted subject to compliance with standard operating procedures set by the National Security Council and State authorities," said Masidi in a statement.
