Hamburg SV sporting director Michael Mutzel has confirmed they've cut short the loan of Manchester City midfielder Tommy Doyle.

Mutzel insists the decision was mutual.

"We had a conversation with Tommy before the winter break in which he told us that he wanted more playing time," he said.

"This playing time was limited, so he asked to be able to end the loan. We agreed to that for the time being."

Mutzel added: “Tommy is now looking for a new club. First of all, we assume that he will probably not come back, but we don't want to rule that out 100 percent."
