Kota Kinabalu: A local man who had organised a religious event sparked a new Covid-19 cluster in Kuala Penyu according to an update.

The 62-year-old index patient in the cluster named Kayul was found positive for the virus in an RTK Antigen test, said the update shared by Sabah's spokesman for the crisis, Datuk Masidi Manjun.

He was found to have held the religious event at Kg Kayul attended by family members from that village, Kg Gerowot and Kg Kebunal.

Close contact screening discovered 24 more cases including four today.

Meanwhile, Sabah registered 265 new cases today, an increase by 21 cases from yesterday.
