The defender scored his first of the season either side of midfielder Alexis Mac Allister's double as Albion made it seven points out of nine over the festive period with Sunday's 3-2 win at Everton.
“It's important for us to get more goals from midfield and from us defenders so that was a big plus on Sunday," said Potter.
“I have always struggled to score with headers to be honest but I thought I'd nip around the back. Enock [Mwepu] got a great flick on and I couldn't really miss it.
“We had a game plan which we executed well, particularly in the first half. We scored two good goals and quietened their crowd, which is never easy at Goodison Park. We had to dig in the second half and we defended well when we had too. We had to deal with a lot of long balls into the box and when Shane Duffy came on in the second half I thought that made a big difference."
