Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is signing for Newcastle United WITHOUT a relegation break clause.
The Daily Mail says Newcastle have reached agreement with Guimaraes and Lyon ahead of his £33million transfer.
The 24-year-old passed his medicals while on international duty in Belo Horizonte, Brazil on Saturday and has agreed a four year contract without a relegation clause.
The fee, which was agreed on Thursday night includes a further £6.7m in add ons. The clubs were formalising final details on Saturday evening ahead of making a formal announcement.
Guimaraes will play for Brazil on Wednesday and so will not be able to meet up with his new teammates in the UK until Thursday.
He will be Newcastle's third signing of the January transfer window following full-back Kieran Trippier and striker Chris Wood but is seen as the key signing to their new project.
