KOTA KINABALU: A new cluster has been identified in Tambunan, Sunday.
Sabah’s spokesperson for Covid-19, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, in an update, said the cluster was named Jalan Kepayan Lama.
The “education institution” cluster involves an 18-year-old boarding school student (index case) in SMK Tambunan.
The student was found positive through a self-test and Covid-19 RTK Antigen confirmation test as he was symptomatic.
Covid screenings on close contacts among the hostelmates found another 34 positive cases.
Further investigation by the State Health Department found that the virus spread was limited among students staying in the same hostel.
All involved students had been isolated for treatment.
