West Ham United have snapped up Linfield prospect Callum Marshall.

Marshall has won an Irons contract after successful trials.

The 17-year-old signs from NIFL Premiership leaders Linfield, for whom he made the first five senior appearances of his career this season.

Growing up in the Northern Irish townland of Glengormley, Marshall – previously also at Glentoran – made his professional debut for Linfield in the County Antrim Shield in October.

Academy Manager Ricky Martin told the club's website: “I'd like to welcome Callum to West Ham United. We're delighted to have him sign for the Club.

“Callum came over before Christmas and trained with our U18s squad. He made a really big impact and impression here, so we're now excited to welcome him to east London and into our Academy of Football family.

“We hope he will have a very successful career at the Football Club."
