Kota Kinabalu: The Industrial Development Ministry will continue to help the Federation of Sabah Industries (FSI) and other associations to boost the State’s economy.
Commending FSI for organising the Chinese New Year (CNY) Trade Fair, Deputy Chief Minister cum Industrial Development Minister Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam said the Federation had been a long strategic partner of his Ministry.
“We should continue to hold more events together, especially this year, to promote the State economy,” he said when officiating the fair at Suria Sabah, here, Friday. He said for two years in a row, such fair was not held due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“There is no place in the world that was not affected by the pandemic, including our businesses and economy…the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) had also dropped.”
To this end, he said, the CNY Trade Fair would be a good starting positive vibe for this year and bring synergy to the community.
He also reiterated that the Government is serious in containing the spread of Covid-19.
“And thanks to the vaccines and vaccination, the number of cases has declined.
“Eventually, the Government will open up the business sector gradually,” he said.
The CNY Trade Fair runs for three days starting Friday, at Suria Sabah’s main atrium at the ground floor.
