Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s daily Covid-19 cases on Saturday fell below the 200 level to 1999, according to Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
“The number of daily cases dropped by 43 today from yesterday’s 242,” he said.
“Kota Kinabalu is the biggest contributor with 60 cases, all of which are from delayed screening results,” he added.
“New cases in Kota Kinabalu have more than doubled from 25 cases yesterday (Friday) to 60 cases today. But it is noted that except for one case, the other 59 cases were late registration cases of two days or more.
“Ranau, which is listed almost every day among the four districts that contribute the highest number of new Covid-19 cases in Sabah, only recorded four cases today compared to 20 cases yesterday.
“The number of new cases in Tuaran also dropped by 16,” he said.
“A total of 195 or 98 per cent of the 199 new patients today are in Category One and Category Two. Category One patients did not show any symptoms of infection and those in Category Two experienced only mild symptoms,” he said.
He noted that there are two cases in Category Three and Category Four.
Sabah recorded no new cluster on Saturday. However, one Covid-19 fatality was recorded in Ranau.
Meanwhile, a total of 159 Covid-19 patients were discharged on Saturday, while 416 remained hospitalised and 347 are detained at low-risk quarantine centres and two at private institutions.
A total of 29 patients are under intensive care and 14 are on ventilated assistance. A total of 26 patients under Stage Four and Stage Five have yet to be vaccinated.
