Manchester City will not consider allowing Raheem Sterling to run down his contract.

The Daily Star says City will reluctantly listen to offers for Sterling this summer – if they fail to agree a new deal with him by then.

The in-form England winger, 27, is into the last 18 months of his current contract and talks over extending his stay remain firmly 'on ice', according to City insiders.

The club have not abandoned hope on the matter but fear the longer the stalemate persists, the less likely he is to commit.

Sterling, despite his recent superb run with the League leaders, remains concerned about commanding a regular starting place under Pep Guardiola.

Discussions on a new contract began way back in September in 2020 but have been on pause since this time last year.

Should it reach June without resolution, City will be forced to cash in while they can still fetch around £50m for their prolific playmaker – valued at £100million only two years ago.
