Oxford United are attempting to sign Jermaine Defoe as a free agent.
The veteran left Rangers last week and is now being chased by several teams in the English pyramid.
Many League One clubs, including Sunderland, Charlton, and Ipswich, have an interest in Defoe.
According to The Telegraph, the 39-year-old is a key target for Oxford for the rest of this season.
Defoe has only played two times in the Scottish Premiership this season, both late substitute appearances.
