Kota Kinabalu: A flood victim was trapped after a river in Ranau swelled following continuous rain today, according to Karanaan assemblyman Datuk Masidi Manjun.
Policemen had been trying to rescue the victim to no avail as the current in Sungai Mokodou, near Kg Takutan was too strong, Masidi said on Twitter.
"We pray they're safe," said the Housing and Local Government Minister.
It was not clear whether the victim was trapped on an island in the middle of the river or was trying to cross the flast-flowing body of water as the photo was grainy.
Floods have been hitting parts of Sabah's west coast, interior, and east coast since New Year's eve.
