
KOTE BELUD: A motorcyclist was killed on the spot after his machine collided with a vehicle while attempting to overtake a vehicle in front of him along Jalan Kota Belud-Kota Marudu, near Kg Kesapang, Wednesday.
The 33-year-old Indonesian was riding a high-powered Ducati Panigale 959cc motorcycle when the incident occurred at 6pm.
District Police Chief, Superintendent Shahrudin Mat Husain said initial investigation found that the victim was on his way from Kota Belud to Kota Marudu.
“He attempted to overtake a vehicle in front of him but slipped and skidded into the opposite lane.
“The victim’s motorcycle skidded and collided with a Perodua Bezza from the opposite direction,” he said, Thursday.
“As a result of the collision, the deceased suffered severe head injuries while the Bezza’s driver, a 37-year-old man was unhurt,” he said.
Shahrudin said the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
“In this regard, police advised road users to always comply with traffic laws and ensure that vehicles are in good condition,” he added.
